It’s time for the biennial update. We have move to a new hosting company: WebFaction. I wanted to have more access to the server and was very tempted to get a VPS since prices have fallen down dramatically. In the end however I didn’t want to get into installing kernel security patches, worrying about backups, etc. WebFaction seems like a great compromise.  It is still shared hosting so they take care of the OS and backups. But they provide full SSH shell access with ability run long term processes and install or build pretty much any software. They even expose XML-RPC interfaces to their control panel and account management. No more dumb cPanel for me.
